More Than A Sale

Ron Suggs

My daughter, my wife and I spent a few days at freshman college orientation. Although it still feels impossible that she will be leaving soon, I feel much more prepared for the new adventure. The university did a great job explaining all the support systems they have in place for the students. They covered the ways they have prepared for my daughter and any of the social, emotional, physical and academic issues she may have. They seem to care for the holistic person, not just the academic part of the student.

It got me thinking about what I do for my clients. I know I feel more comfortable knowing that the professional institution cares about my whole student and not just her grades. I want my clients to know that I care about their whole experience, not just the sale.

I was inspired to review my typical client meeting and I to evaluate my procedures and processes. I wanted to ensure that my style left my clients feeling cared for, prepared, and educated on every details of their estate plan. The experience needed to leave my clients feeling organized and educated on their wishes and how they are laid out. I also reviewed how my clients last wishes were explained to their Executor. It is vital that the Executor has clear directions and is appropriately prepared to handle the estate after a loved one has passed.

Gratefully, after only a few small changes, my process checked out.

With college drop of only weeks away, I find myself dreading how quickly each day goes. It is something I wish that I could put off for another year or two but life happens and time flies. Soon, we will be driving away from her new town and she won’t be in the car with us.

The same thing happens with estate planning. It is something we know we need to get set up. We feel the urgency each time we lose a loved one or see a tragic new story. However, somehow, we find a reason to push it off a year or two or ten; hopefully getting to it before it’s too late.

If you are have been thinking about getting your estate plan in place, we would love to work with you. We will walk with you each step of the way to ensure you are educated, comfortable and prepared for the future and your legacy.
